Proxxima™ Resins Systems

Fast-cure, lightweight solutions for advanced composites manufacturing.

Proxxima™ Polyolefin Thermoset Resin Systems

Composites One is an authorized distributor of Proxxima resin systems.

ExxonMobil is unlocking new possibilities with its groundbreaking Proxxima™ polyolefin thermoset resin systems. These two-part systems create value across composites, coatings, and molded polymer applications. Proxxima resin systems deliver scalable processing advantages with performance that surpasses many traditional materials.

Proxxima™ R2102 C25

Proxxima™ polyolefin thermoset resin systems are designed to deliver the right combination of thermal and mechanical properties in an easy to process system. Proxxima™ systems offer better thermal stability than standard thermoplastics and better wear resistance than typical compression molded thermosets, while delivering corrosion resistance, good machinability, a wide use-temperature range, and ease of fabrication.

Specially designed to have a low viscosity for fast and easy mold fill, Proxima resin systems can be processed by most standard thermoset processing techniques, such as mold-casting, spin-casting, and reaction-injection molding. Learn more about Proxxima™ R2102 C25.

Proxxima™ R3100 C32

The Proxxima R3100 C32 resin system is an ultra-low viscosity two-part polyolefin thermoset system that is compatible with fabrics based on glass roving and is designed for infusion processes. This system provides laminates exhibiting excellent fracture toughness, improved fatigue performance and low water absorption. It is suitable for making composite structures with demanding mechanical requirements where fast infusion and cure speeds are important.

Benefits of Proxxima by ExxonMobile
Benefits of Proxxima by ExxonMobile
  • Proxxima resin systems work as a two-part resin and catalyst system with ultra-low viscosity for fast infusion, customizable cure speeds from seconds to hours, and broad compatibility with composite, molding, and coating processes—delivering stronger, lighter, and more durable parts than traditional thermosets.

  • Proxxima resin sytems produce durable, corrosion-resistant parts with enhanced strength-to-weight and chemical resistance.

    • Tough: Outperforms traditional thermosets with excellent impact resistance and durability.

    • Lightweight: Delivers high performance with less material, enabling lighter, more efficient parts.

    • Chemical Resistance & Low Water Absorption: Hydrophobic resin with strong anticorrosion protection and minimal water uptake.

    • Ultra-Low Viscosity: ~20 cP for fast infusion, complex shapes, and minimal voids.

    • Controlled Rapid Cure: Flexible cure speeds from seconds to hours for efficient processing.

  • Proxxima resin systems are versatile and compatible with many composite methods including RTM, VARTM, pultrusion, molding, and coatings, and work seamlessly with fibers such as carbon, glass, and flax.

  • Proxxima resin systems are used in applications across diverse markets, including:

    • Coatings (high-performance anticorrosion solutions)

    • Infrastructure

    • Mobility & Transportation

    • Oil & Gas (subsea thermal insulation)

    • Wind Energy Systems

  • Proxxima™ resin systems were first developed by Dr. Robert Grubbs and his team at Caltech using his Nobel Prize-winning catalyst technology.  Dr. Grubbs co-founded Materia and licensed the Grubbs catalyst technology to Materia to commercialize the resins. Materia was acquired by ExxonMobil in 2021, one of the world’s leading energy and chemical companies.

Backed by ExxonMobil’s extensive R&D capabilities, global manufacturing footprint, and reliable supply chain, Proxxima resin systems are being scaled to meet industrial demand across multiple markets. Composites One is a certified distributor of Proxxima resin systems across North America.
